This house is built in Victorian gothic style with its steeply pitched gable roofs and highly decorated bargeboards. It is said to have come from Parawai, moved to its present site to serve a s a residence for the first stationmaster of the Shortland Railway Station.
In 1906 the building was purchased by the Thames Wesleyan Trust for use as a manse. It was sold in 1946 and remains in private ownership to this day.
