Topic: 750 Tararu Road
Topic type:
This house is a good example of the residential boom days at Tararu and the growth of the wealth of Thames as a commercial centre as the gold returns declined.
Built in 1890, it displays factory-cut bay windows, which are architecturally significant. It is one of the few bay villas in the area. It is somewhat unusual for its full column veranda posts. Other features of the building include the 'Chicago style' sash window under the verandah and the flat roofed extension added much later to the northern side, and clad in plain weatherboards.
