Topic: Coniston, 201 Heale Street
Both 'Coniston' and 'Thurlston' are described as substantial timber Californian bungalows.
Built around 1913-14, both were possibly designed by the same architect, Selwyn Goldsbrow. Twenty-five pages of specifications formed the tender document. Tenders closed on 26 May 1913 and 16 weeks were given to complete. Only the very best materials were used.
The builder constructed them for his son and daughter. 'Coniston' was built for Mr Miller, a principal in the law firm Miller & Poulgrain and 'Thurlston' for M F W Heatherington. There are descendants of both families still living in Thames.
